• It is common for Russian hair to be sold in ponytails that do not weigh exactly 100 grams. These ponytails cannot be used directly in your hair since they are in their raw form, known as bulk hair. For one of our clients, we created toppers and wigs using bundles of hair weighing 40-80 grams. We had to combine multiple bundles if we needed more hair than that.
• If you see an Asian vendor offering Russian extensions, you’re being cheated. I’m not aware of any manufacturers having access to Russian hair.
• There is a notable difference in texture between Asian and Russian hair, particularly in #613 hair. Although the blonde hair has a fine texture, the cuticles can still be felt clearly. It can be more challenging to differentiate between fake and authentic Russian extensions when both come in a natural black color.
• Real Russian hair bleaches really fast (in minutes). Bleaching Asian hair is like watching paint dry (it takes hours).
• If you want to use bulk hair, you have two options: send it to a manufacturer who can create hair products or find someone local who can do it for you, such as yourself. However, both options will require either time or money.
